Kinetic AIU
Mere Childsplay For Revit Architecture
Kinetic AIU (Architecture, Innovation, Urbanisam) were established in February 2003 by Bob Ghosh, John Shakeshaft and Michael Young. The primary objective of the practice is to deliver high quality projects by maintaining an energy, enghusiasm and rigour throughout the design and delivery process.
Challenge
When they decided to enter a developer competition for the Mere Green Complex, a key suburban retail centre and residential development, Birmingham based Architects Kinetic AIU realised that their current product VectorWorks would not be able to address some of the key technical requirements they would have.
Why Autodesk
They eventually decided upon Autodesk's Revit Architecture Suite because of the benefits of connecting to AutoCAD. Although not used within the company at the time there was more internal knowledge of AutoCAD than any other product.
Results
- Improved scheduling capabilities
- More accurate across multiple drawings
- Improved workflow
- FBX export compatibility with 3DS Max for animation
- Increased compatibility across software.
"Revit Architecture's ability to pull off views, sections and elevations was much more co-ordinated than in either Microstation or Vectorworks."
John Shakeshaft, Kinetic AIU
