T&E Display Their Expertise When Modelling In 3D with Autodesk Inventor

T&E Display Group are specialists in the design, in-house manufacture, installation and fit-out of retail display systems, together with turnkey project management, shop fitting and commercial interiors. Using Inventor has made a huge difference to the speed of their work flow and they are now using it to create may of the different designs within the Company.

The Challenge

When Ryan Walsh, a designer at T&E first joined the company there was just one draughtsman using AutoCAD LT. Having used AutoCAD Mechanical at his previous workplace he was keen to introduce more technology into T&E and strongly believed in the benefits of 3D modelling.

Why Autodesk?

Cadspec were brought in to demonstrate Autodesk Inventor as they felt it made sense to stick with Autodesk based products given Ryan's experience with AutoCAD Mechanical and the fact that the company already had AutoCAD LT. According to Walsh, digital prototyping in 3d with Inventor has made a huge difference to their workflow. The company have now taken on 3DS Max in addition which is used to create visualisations of the display systems prior to being passed over to be created in AutoCAD and Inventor.

Results

  • Inventor has greatly increased the speed of their workflow.
  • Increased levels of business - both repeat and new.
  • The company has moved from producing one off small part displays to much more complex display systems.
  • Given them a competitive edge over people still doing things manually.

"Inventor provides a dynamic interface between the creative and engineering functions. There is a distinct cost and speed advantage in being able to integrate the design process with the manufacturing process and it excites clients - they like the fact that it's high tech and sate of the art - that's a good marketing tool for us".

Andrew Fry, owner of T&E Display Systems.
